In an interesting article reviewing church activities, contributed by a clergyman and appearing in a recent issue of your paper, it is asserted that Christian Scientists are right in maintaining that religion is intimately associated with both public and private health. It is also suggested that in order to prevent and eliminate disease, medical science and experts on the work of public health authorities should be appealed to. It should be definitely understood that these latter material systems are entirely opposite in their methods of treating disease to the method pursued in Christian Science, which is altogether spiritual. Cooperation between these methods and Christian Science is therefore obviously impossible. This was clearly recognized by Christ Jesus in his healing work when he totally ignored so-called material laws and systems, restoring health to the sick through his spiritual understanding and application of God's spiritual laws. The undoubted and complete success which attended his method of healing was pointed to by him as witness to his divine authority.

In Christian Science it is realized that the command of Jesus to heal the sick through a right understanding of God and His laws relative to man, is imperative and applies to all ages. Obedience to this command and the works thereby accomplished are required as proof that the teachings of Jesus are understood; for he said, "He that believeth on [understandeth] me, the works that I do shall he do also." The remarkable healings of all manner of disease which are effected in Christian Science, in many instances simply through an earnest study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are rightly attracting the attention of thoughtful people; and the important relation of true religion, as taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus, to the health of both the individual and the community is thereby being increasingly recognized.
