Kluxer

A speaker in Columbus, Ohio, recently made a statement in a speech in which it seems he denounced Christian Science. An article was mailed to the Kluxer containing that sermon, and through an oversight the same was printed. The article in question appeared on page 16 of the issue of November 3, and referred to the "paganism and materialism" of Christian Scientists. The speaker on that occasion spoke slightingly of something, knowledge of which he did not possess. Christian Scientists are united to all that is Christlike; they honor God as faithful Christians should, and show that they are growing in a knowledge of God and His ways by doing many healing and saving works solely through reliance on Him. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, states on page 192: "We are Christian Scientists, only as we quit our reliance upon that which is false and grasp the true. We are not Christian Scientists until we leave all for Christ." The possession of the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" is what constitutes a Christian Scientist. The false beliefs of materialism must be superseded by spiritual understanding and spiritual power or one cannot properly be called a Christian or a Christian Scientist.
