On page 568 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

On page 568 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says, "For victory over a single sin, we give thanks and magnify the Lord of Hosts." Although young in the study of Christian Science, I want to tell of a recent experience, hoping it may help some one as I have been helped many times by testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel and at the Wednesday evening meetings. I was on my way home one evening when I was suddenly seized with an acute attack of sciatica; the pain was very intense, reaching from my hip to my ankle. I became fearful that I could not reach home without assistance, when there came clearly to my thought the allness of God's power and presence, that He is my life, and that all is harmony in His kingdom. I held fast to this truth and reached home without a limp. Upon retiring I found I could not rest comfortably, as the pain was still severe. I was determined, however, not to surrender to the enemy, but repeated the "scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of Science and Health, the ninety-first psalm, and various other passages of Scripture. About daybreak I fell asleep, and when I awoke I was free from pain and went about my household duties. By noon all evidence of the discord had passed into its native nothingness. For this slight understanding of the demonstrable truth I am most grateful, also for the spiritual uplift resulting from a knowledge of the nearness of God, and for the teaching which enables me to follow in the footsteps of Christ Jesus, our Way-shower. My heart is filled with love and praise to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for all her inspired writings, which are drawing all mankind to the fold where there is but one Shepherd.—(Mrs.) Gertrude M. Charlton, Washington, District of Columbia.
