Christian Science came into my life at the time when it was most needed, and proved once again that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." From infancy until I was twelve years old I suffered from attacks of fever at intervals of five or six weeks. I would hardly regain my strength from one attack before another would prostrate me. These fevers increased in violence until the doctors gave up hope of overcoming them and said that I could not survive many more attacks. My mother then earnestly prayed for help and very soon some Christian Science pamphlets were brought to our house by a man whom we hardly knew. My parents began to attend the Christian Science services and took me with them, although I did not attend willingly because the meeting were then held in a small hall and were poorly attended.

Proof that Christian Science is the truth and that the truth does heal soon became manifest to us. My mother was very receptive to the truth and began at once to apply to our everyday needs the statements heard in the church services. The first healing was that of hives, which I had had every summer. When we returned home from the first Sunday service I found that my hands were covered with them. My mother silently declared some statements of Truth from the Lesson-Sermon and the hives vanished, never to return. We thought that this was wonderful. By the time the next attack of fever came upon me, my mother had been studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for a few weeks and her understanding of the truth instantly freed me. It was six months before another fever appeared; when it did, in five minutes it was destroyed, and has never returned. I was rapidly transformed into a healthy, active girl, which I appreciated after a childhood spent mostly in bed and under a doctor's care. I very soon began to enjoy the Christian Science services and to prefer them to any other church service.

During the first years we were interested in Christian Science we had innumerable proofs of its healing and regenerating power. Every member of our family was benefited. Among other demonstrations which I have had was that of painless dentistry under Christian Science treatment. Measles, chicken pox, pneumonia, and hay fever have also been overcome. We have had so many beautiful demonstrations that it would be impossible to tell of them all.
