It is with deep gratitude that I testify to the many blessings which Christian Science has brought into my experience. It was presented to me at a time when I had become discouraged in my efforts to find a satisfying knowledge of God, which the church of my girlhood had failed to give me, and for which I had later sought outside the pale of the church, but in vain. A sense of depression and despair had taken possession of me, when a friend of years before again crossed my path and lent me a copy of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with some copies of The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel, the testimonies in which made such an impression upon me that I soon began to see a rift in the mental clouds in which I had seemed to be enveloped. Upon arising one morning I found myself thinking aloud, "What a joy it is just to live, and to begin to know God," instead of the usual "Another day, and I am so discouraged I do not know what to do with myself," which was due in some measure to years of illness in the family, followed by death, sorrow, and financial problems, all of which I had been taught that I must accept as the will of God.

Since childhood I had been held in bondage to the belief that I was not constitutionally strong, which I accepted, and suffered accordingly. I had all my life suffered from defective eyesight, accompanied by chronic headache. After studying Christian Science earnestly for a right understanding of God, without any thought of physical healing, I one day discovered that I was free from headache, and some time later, upon accidentally breaking my eyeglasses, which I had worn for many years, I determined to apply my understanding of Christian Science to this need, with the result that I was able to get along without glasses, my sight becoming clearer from time to time until I was healed of astigmatism, on account of which an oculist had told me I would always have to wear glasses, exchanging them for stronger ones at least once a year.

I have been healed of ruptured blood vessels, periodic attacks of a severely ulcerated throat, chronic indigestion, and other minor ills, and after some years of study of Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings a so-called incurable internal disease was healed in the twinkling of an eye, and for the first time in my experience I was absolutely well and strong, and have remained so for many years. While grateful for the physical healing, I am even more so for the demonstrable knowledge of God and of man's relation to Him, which Christian Science has given to me, and I can only fully express my gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for her revelation of the truth by helping others who may be groping in the dark as I was to that understanding of God which is Life eternal.
