I wish to express my gratitude for the great benefits that have come to me through Christian Science. I became acquainted with the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, some years ago, but I did not progress in the understanding of it as I wished. I had no illnesses to overcome, and in the beginning it did not occur to me that greater blessings than physical healing might be obtained through Christian Science. But gradually my eyes were opened and I began to perceive that the difficulties with which I had been struggling since childhood might be overcome through Christian Science, and from that time I acknowledged the greater benefit of moral and spiritual help. Through a thoughtful study of the weekly Lesson-Sermon I have increased in understanding and in the knowledge that there is no difficulty that Truth cannot heal.
I am grateful to have found that Christian Science is a sure remedy for error of every kind, and that God is a very present help in trouble. As an example of this ever present help I will tell of an experience I had some time ago. I played the organ for our services, and for this purpose went to practice one Wednesday morning, but when ready to return home I felt unable to go; my body felt all over as if some one had struck me. My first thought was that if I became ill I could not play in the evening, and I did not know whom I could ask to take my place, and that if I must play that night I must be healed. It occurred to me that the illness was called influenza and also that I knew how to be healed; for this seeming influence was error, and there is but one influence, namely, God. I went home, and during the hours before the Wednesday evening meeting I realized this great truth and read Science and Health. Gradually I regained my strength and I played the organ that evening, although the illness was not altogether mastered, but before the New Year began, this being the last day of the year, I could declare that I was healed and that the one great influence, God, had saved me.—(Mrs.) Jeannette A.
