[Written for the Sentinel]
"A little child shall lead them"
Fearless
stood the young Elihu,
Bowing not to time-worn doctrines
Proudly stated by his elders;
Inspiration pure his weapon,
God his every need supplying.
Dauntless spoke the youthful Jesus,
Not regarding ties of bondage,
Tarrying within the temple,
Free, about his Father's business.
Learned doctors paused to listen;
Words of Truth compel attention.
So may we bear perfect witness
To the Christ, in daily living,
Facing squarely error's boasting,
Senses' claims to prestige, power,
And with childlike, sweet assurance,
Gladly hold our ground unshaken,
Knowing Love is all-triumphant.
