Some time ago my husband gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

Some time ago my husband gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy to read. I was then at a clinic undergoing psychoanalysis for a physical and mental breakdown. I had been there sixteen months and was, if anything, in a more hopeless state, being full of fears about everything, and I was greatly depressed. I had previously tried entire rest and change, also massage and physical culture under a very proficient instructress in London. I began to study Science and Health a little but found it very difficult. I realized that Christian Science and psycho-analysis were totally opposed and that I must choose between them. Soon the way was made quite clear for me. We were notified by the authorities that the house would be closed for one month for cleaning and alterations and that all patients must leave temporarily. A quiet home was found for me with earnest Christian Scientists and I began having daily help from a practitioner. Needless to say, when the month was up I did not return to the clinic. My decision was easy to make, for with the slight improvement that had taken place I knew that my healing would come through Christian Science. I am now a different woman. I was able during the Easter holidays to be with my children and to take up most of my duties. I am again able to share my husband's life and to be a companion to him. For all this and for the wonderful new understanding that has been given to me, for all the harmony and love that is coming into my life, I am truly grateful. I now know that God is good; the proofs are great and numerous. I know that He is Life, Truth, and Love. I am indeed most grateful for all the help and teaching that have been lovingly and patiently goven to me by practitioners. My great desire is to be able to help others as I have been helped. "Freely ye have received, freely give," and even now God is daily giving me opportunities to show my gratitude to Him. I have had much assistance from the literature we are able to obtain.

Mrs. Eddy's beautiful hymn, "Shepherd, Show Me How to Go" (Hymnal, p. 161), has been a great guide and help to me from almost the beginning of my healing. I am sending this testimony in the hope it may be helpful to others, as those I have read have been to me.
