Awake

EVELINE A. ELLIS

Clad in the seeming,
Life is but dreaming,
Sad and obscure;
Full of discouragement,
Sickness, and punishment,
Hard to endure.

Throw off the seeming!
Wake from the dreaming!
God is our Life!
Boundless beatitude—
Love, joy, and gratitude
End all the strife.
