"There is such a thing as real sickness in the world, despite what Christian Scientists, so called, allege to the contrary," asserts a contributor to the columns of the World-Herald. The Christian Science teaching concerning the unreality of sickness is a phase of spiritual truth, which Christ Jesus taught is not of this world; so it is apparent that the critic's statement entirely misses the mark. Concerning the evidence of the physical, or worldly, senses, Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this Science, writes, "Everything is as real as you make it, and no more so" (Unity of Good, p. 8). To the worldly senses evil may seem as real as good and disease as real as health. But Christian Science stresses the Bible teaching that man is the likeness of God; therefore it concludes logically that man has spiritual senses which accept good as real and reject evil as unreal. It is such spiritual capacity that Christ Jesus displayed in overcoming all disease and evil, and that Christian Science aids men to realize and utilize as he did.

The Master classed sickness as a work of the devil and said of him and his work, "He is a liar, and the father of it." The Savior's deeds confirmed his words for he proved so clearly that health is real and disease is illusion that whole multitudes, to whom all manner of disease had seemed real, accepted the truth he taught; and this corrected the illusion, as shown by the fact that immediately they were healed. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says on page 230: "If sickness is real, it belongs to immortality; if true, it is a part of Truth. Would you attempt with drugs, or without, to destroy a quality or condition of Truth? But if sickness and sin are illusions, the awakening from this mortal dream, or illusion, will bring us into health, holiness, and immortality. This awakening is the forever coming of Christ, the advanced appearing of Truth, which casts out error and heals the sick."
