The Master said, "Freely ye have received, freely give."

The Master said, "Freely ye have received, freely give." I have received so much help and encouragement from the many testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel that I am impelled to send in my testimony with the hope that some one will be benefited and take courage.

I was led to study Christian Science through a very dear friend. The teaching as explained to me seemed very practical and appealed to me as no other religion had, but I took up the study especially for the physical healing. One Friday in February, 1914, I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and a week later, after having read it through, I was convinced of the truth it taught and knew it was what I wanted and needed. I called on a practitioner and in less than three weeks was healed of headaches, from which I had suffered almost continually for ten years. I was also able to lay aside glasses, which I had worn for seven years. For a while, however, I carried them with me wherever I went in case I should need them, as I had not been able to go without them at all before. One day while visiting the friend who had told me of Christian Science, I met a practitioner, and in talking with her the fear of needing them was overcome. I was healed in two days of a condition seemingly very serious, which I think would have been called ptomaine poisoning.

I have been healed of bowel disorder, from which I had suffered since childhood, of colds, worry, and resentment. I am learning to love my neighbor as myself, and to know that "there is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." When I first heard of Christian Science I was under the care of a nerve specialist, as I was suffering from an extremely nervous condition, said to have been brought on by an abdominal operation which I had undergone a few years previous. Some of my ailments seemingly are slow in yielding, but by patience, obedience, and faithful study, by knowing that I must not outline, and by saying willingly, earnestly, Thy will, in Thy time, and not mine, be done, I shall know and understand that the surgical knife cannot touch the real man, who is spiritual and not material and is made in God's image and likeness.
