I love the day that God revealed to me His law, Christian Science. When in the past I lived in ignorance of this law, I thought I governed myself and did my own will; but now I see that all I seemed to do came to naught, while an unseen Love showed me those human footsteps which led to purer desires, until I was prepared to receive the revelation of God's presence, Christian Science.

While suffering from chronic stomach trouble, weakness, sick headaches, and constant pain, with eyes bandaged so no light could penetrate, nothing could keep the light of Truth from entering consciousness, and in this condition I was nearer God because self-will, resentment, and pride were departing. One Sunday, when our beloved grandmother was making us a visit, she saw my sad condition, and in loving sympathy spoke to me about trying Christian Science, since everything else had been tried and had failed. Knowing nothing of Christian Science, not even that it healed people, I went with an open mind to take my first treatment. While I did not gain much consciously at the first treatment I thought this religion must be good, because the practitioner was so loving and I felt happy to be with her. The next day I was awakened: the thought came to me that here was the very thing I had always longed for, and I realized then that this teaching would work out all human problems. My long nights in prayer had not been in vain. God had heard my prayers and answered them.

Christian Science seemed to me at once reasonable, and with all others who have found the Christ I was filled with unbounded joy. It is almost needless to say I was healed quickly; in about three weeks I had regained normal health, and my healing has been permanent. Christian Science immediately became a law to me by which I could go on working out other problems. In about five weeks I secured a position, and was able to use my eyes constantly, whereas before I could not read at all and suffered continually. In a few weeks more I laid off glasses, which I had worn for fifteen years. But my purpose in life was an ambition I had had from childhood. Christian Science purified this ambition and showed me that we need not outline our future, for our creator has already planned all perfectly; but we can have the constant desire to be of universal service, reflecting that Love revealed in Christian Science which is to heal the nation. I now have the opportunity to participate in the work I so love, but pray always to do all to the glory of God.
