It is three years since I became interested in Christian Science, and I wish to express my gratitude for the understanding of God that I have gained through the study of the Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I have had many proofs of Love's protection and care. Two years ago when my little daughter was born, while I was very young in Science and had not studied a great deal, I had a beautifual experience in every way. My baby is very strong and is happy and well.
In July, 1917, while driving home about ten o'clock one evening, we were struck by a motor cycle traveling about sixty miles an hour. When I regained consciousness my first realization was that I was holding my baby too tight and that in reality there had been no accident. My husband seemed helpless, but I held steadfastly to the truth and did not heed mortal sense testimony. I climbed out of the car and found other cars on the scene and several people ready to help. The young lady and gentleman who drove the motor cycle were seriously injured, and were sent to the hospital. It was thought necessary to send my husband too, but in the confusion he got into the wrong car. Every instant I felt more secure in my realization of the truth, and in about half an hour my husband was able to walk a little. My hat was found in the broken glass in the wind shield and my hat pin was broken into tiny pieces, which I later combed out of my hair. We also learned that a large car which was racing with the motor cycle had missed us by just a few inches. All our expenses were paid, and it certainly was a most complete demonstration of the ever presence and power of Love and Truth.
Divine Love has healed a sense of grief and injustice, harmony has been restored in my home, and supply has been most beautifully demonstrated. I am grateful beyond expression for all these things, but the change of thought and the knowledge of what Life, Truth, and Love mean cause the real sense of joy and gratitude and teach us how to be really grateful for the blessings that we receive. Words cannot express how much the Sentinel has meant to me. I have always craved an education, but seemed to be hindered in every way, especially by a seeming failure of sight. Thanks be to Christian Science, I am learning what true sight means. The beautiful English used in all Christian Science periodicals has also meant much and has helped to fill a sense of lack. The kindness of the Scientists who have helped and are helping me I wish also to remember. Even with all these blessings error has tried to make it seem that my progress has been slow and hard, but I am glad that error, in whatever form it may seem to come, has no power. My greatest desire now is to learn more of Truth and Love. I am also glad to say that I am learning how to love my neighbor as myself and to do all things "to the glory of God."
