Pueblo (Col.) Chieftain
In a recent issue an evangelist is reported to have said that Christian Science rejects "the inspired Word of God." Presumably the evangelist by this statement intended to convey the impression that Christian Science rejects the Bible as the inspired Word of God. This statement is erroneous. Christian Science accepts the Bible, and bases all its teachings upon it. We love the Bible, are tireless students of it, and are seeking to put in practice its teachings. In the tenets of Christian Science on page 497 of Science and Health is this definite and concise statement about the Bible: "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." The clergyman quoted above is evidently ignorant of what Christian Science teaches.
