As the benefits of Christian Science multiply daily, the love, peace, and joy that come to us through its study and ministrations, my debt to divine Love becomes increasingly great, and I am sending this testimony as a slight expression of my gratitude.

Eight years ago my physician said that I could never be free from pain unless an operation were performed to remove from the spine a pressure which caused constant pain at the base of the brain. Before this another physician in another city gave the same verdict. Two years more of suffering was endured before I consented to the operation, and then only because the pain had become unbearable and I had given up hope of relief from medical treatment.

While waiting for my husband's return from a business trip, after which the operation was to be performed, I decided to try Christian Science treatment, although up to this time we had been very much opposed to Christian Science and never lost an opportunity to ridicule it. My husband being in the drug business, we thought our opposition justifiable. I had little faith in the power of Christian Science to heal, perhaps just enough to know that at least it could do me no harm. I recognized this fact because I had seen the harmony expressed in one Christian Science family, so I humbly went to a member of this family and asked for treatment. I was completely healed in five days, and from that day in April, 1906, to the present time, I have had no return of either the severe backache or headache with which I had suffered for thirteen years. With this healing came a spiritual awakening which was only perceptible at first in a happier and more tranquil condition of thought and an overwhelming desire to know more about God and more about Christian Science.
