THE LECTURES

Judge Clifford P. Smith lectured on the subject of Christian Science Nov. 5. He was introduced by Frank B. Homans, who said:—

The thought prevails in the minds of many that Christian Scientists claim to be better than other people. This is far from true. Christian Scientists make no claim of being better than others, but they do know that they are better than they were before they became acquainted with the truth as revealed in Christian Science. They are better physically, morally; better friends, better neighbors, better citizens. The claims which Christian Scientists make are subject to positive proof by any one who will investigate. If it were not possible day by day to prove true every statement which Christian Science teaches, it would not be worth a moment's thought. If all the world should say it was good and right, and you and I could not prove it, it would be of little value to us. The only reason that every one does not accept and follow the teaching of Christian Science is because they misunderstand it and hence are unwilling to put it to the test.—Correspondence.
