Moved by a genuine spirit of gratitude to Christian Science...
Moved by a genuine spirit of gratitude to Christian Science for the prompt recovery of our child, then aged seven months, from what seemed to be certain death, we most joyously send this testimony. Stricken with acute lung trouble in a most severe form, the child rapidly sank into a comatose condition. With the heightening of fear we hastily summoned help in Christian Science. The practitioner to whom we sent being at that time engaged elsewhere, where, we were recommended to try another, with the assurance that children were especially responsive to the healing influence of Truth. We sent immediately for the practitioner who had been recommended, and received word that she would be with us in half an hour. The child's condition in the time that intervened had developed to such a degree that we had almost given up hope, and had already begun to nerve ourselves for death's seeming victory, thinking that her visit would be of no avail.
Promptly at the time set the practitioner arrived, her face beaming with love and confidence as she greeted us with assurances that all would be well, and that the baby could not be in better care than that of God. In a little over an hour's time the child was not only well on her way to a speedy convalescence, but there was the most marvelous recovery that we had ever witnessed. It is impossible to express the joy and the gratitude to God which possessed our hearts as we contemplated the wide contrast between this condition and the extreme danger in which she seemed to be but a short time before. She had about four or five treatments after this, but in less than a week she was entirely healed.
Baby is now a fine strong girl, and enjoying perfect and continuous health. We feel profoundly grateful to Mrs. Eddy for having reached the high estate in which such essential and august truths could be revealed to humanity.
