The healing that has come to me in Christian Science...

The healing that has come to me in Christian Science affords ample proof of God's presence and power among men, and I gladly bear a message of health and freedom to the sick, the sorrowing, and the sinful, for Christian Science has taught me that there is a sure way of escape provided for suffering humanity, and that it is God "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." I was great sufferer for years with a complication of diseases which the best physicians obtainable did not seem to understand. This condition manifested itself in girlhood, after a few years spent in educational work, as teacher and student; which work I had been told by both physicians and instructors I had not the strength to continue. When my health failed, physicians pronounced it a result of overstudy and work, and at that time did not anticipate any serious experience; however, in ten days they were holding consultations, and in a very short time decided that surgery was necessary. Following a second operation, in which it was felt that surgery had done all it could for me, I was only abandoned to more helpless, hopeless invalidism.

The physicians who treated me did not agree in diagnosing the case, but the existing conditions were said to be an extreme form of blood disease, which transfusion had failed to relieve; a helpless, or partially paralyzed condition of the body from the waist line down; severe spinal and heart trouble, etc. These, and other distressing conditions, bound me for a period of almost three years, which were spent in a fruitless search for relief. For twenty months I lay in my own home; six months were spent in sanitariums, where I was subjected to various forms of treatment, including osteopathy, electricity, etc.; and the remainder of the time was spent in trying changes of climate. The helplessness of my condition is indescribable, but it is sufficient to say that most of the time I was kept in a darkened room, with all bells silenced and all voices hushed, under the constant care of from one to three physicians and as many professional nurses; many times they worked over me all through the night.

In all I was treated by physicians from five different States, about fifteen in number, and was cared for by as many or more of the best professional nurses obtainable, until at length there was not a physician to be found who offered any hope or thought anything further could be done for me.
