About two years ago I became dissatisfied with the teaching...
About two years ago I became dissatisfied with the teaching of the church of which I was then a member, and as I needed help for physical troubles I asked a friend to lend me some Christian Science literature. She brought me a copy of Science and Health and some Sentinels and I began reading at once. I had read from Science and Health only a few days when realized that I no longer needed glasses, which I had worn for about twelve years. The oculist had told me I could never go without them, but I have never felt the need of them since and there has never been any more suffering from my eyes. A serious condition of the spine also yielded in a very short time. I had suffered terribly from this trouble and spent a great deal of money for medical treatment. The last osteopath to whom went finally said that he could not relieve the trouble unless I could have absolute rest for at least a year. My back has been perfectly well and strong since the first few weeks of reading Science and Health. It seemed very wonderful to me, for at times I could feel the change taking place. How beautiful it was to know that I was no longer in bondage to the belief in material laws, but that I was free to do my work and care for my family as I should. These are only two of the many demonstrations of the power of Truth over error which we have had, and before closing I want to tell of another. Last Christmas morning our fourth child was born. I had always before suffered for hours, had taken chloroform, and had a slow recovery. This time there was almost no pain and the second day I ate supper with the family. Words can never express my gratitude for this wonderful healing truth which our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has revealed to the world.
