AMONG THE CHURCHES

Classic in type, like a Greek temple of old, the proposed church of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Pasadena, promises to be one of the most beautiful of the many handsome buildings which adorn the Crown of the Valley. The church will cost when completed over one hundred and twelve thousand dollars, thus making it one of the most costly as well as one of the most beautiful churches of the city. It will, of course, take many months in the building, but the work of construction will probably be commenced within the month.—Pasadena Star.

Excavation for the basement of the edifice of First Church of Christ Scientist, will begin shortly on Everett, between Eighteenth and Nineteenth Streets, and the erection of the building will be put through without delay. The site, 100 x 200, was purchased about two years ago for twenty-five thousand dollars, and its value is said to have increased at least twenty-five per cent since. The new edifice will be 150 x 85, taking up the middle of the tract as nearly as is possible. The architecture of the structure will be of the Greek order. Its cost is to be in the neighborhood of eighty-five thousand dollars.
