It is now nearly fifteen years since I took up the study of Christian Science, and I feel sure that but for its blessed teachings I should not be here to-day to tell the story of my healing. From earliest childhood my heart cried out to God for help. I never doubted Him or the Bible, but wondered why He did not answer our prayers, and why Christians and churchgoers did not take Him at His word. At the age of fifteen I joined the church, and was a faithful worker until at twenty-one my health failed me, and I was given up, after sounding the depths of materia medica. But these words came to me with great force: "With God all things are possible;" and the Master's promise, that if we will only believe, we may ask what we will, and it shall be done unto us. My illness was diagnosed by the doctors as very serious lung trouble, and it was feared that I was doomed to die, for no one had ever heard of such a case being cured; but I held to the truth that "with God all things are possible," and although I knew nothing of Christian Science at the time, I did not see how any Christian could get around those words, and there was absolutely no other resource. It is almost needless to say that I was healed, although I had been sick nearly two years. My healing was slow but sure, and I never doubted the source from which my help came, and gave the glory to God.

Years afterward my heart again cried out to God for help, and this time I thought I was being punished for unfaithfulness, and that it was God's will I should suffer. The fear of eternal punishment troubled me a great deal, and I thought my time had surely come, but God answered my prayers, for I prayed most earnestly that I might be shown how I could serve Him, for I did not feel satisfied with the old way. We were then living in. Southern Arizona, and I told my husband if he did not take me away from there I should surely die. We decided to go to Salt Lake, and not long after I received a kind, encouraging letter from a friend who lived there, telling me that I could be healed by Christian Science. I had never heard the name mentioned more than once or twice, and then only in criticism; but it sounded good to me, and my heart bounded with hope. My husband gave up a good position and took his family of seven to Salt Lake, not knowing what was in store for us, but divine Love provided. My friend met us at our hotel, and insisted that we all go to her home. Her mother being a Christian Science practitioner, I soon became conscious of the healing influence, and it was not long before I asked for help and received it.

Far more than the physical healing came to me. The understanding of Truth has illumined the Scriptures and made the Bible a new book to me. It has brought the peace that passeth all knowledge, and has enabled me to raise my five children without the aid of drugs or doctors, and I have seen all the ills that flesh is heir to go down before the truth. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" is my daily companion. Words cannot express my gratitude to its dear author, for now I know how to serve God. I also feel grateful for our Lesson-Sermons and for all literature sent out by our Publishing Society.—Mrs. Winnifred E. Rule, St. Anthony, Idaho.
