THE ETERNAL GOODNESS

[At this time. when the centennial of the birth of the great and good poet Whittier is being celebrated in all lands, one turns with ever-increasing profit and pleasure to his inspiring lines. Christian Scientists will be especially interested in the poems headed "The Healer," "Our Master," "The Overheart," "Tauler," "Worship," "Forgiveness," "The Gift of Tritemius," and "The Eternal Goodness." The following stanzas are selected from the last-named poem.—Editor.]

Who fathoms the Eternal Thought?
Who talks of scheme and plan?
The Lord is God! He needeth not
The poor device of man.

Ye tread with boldness shod;
I dare not fix with mete and bound
The love and power of God.
