The Onlooker,
The Englishman, in the words of Voltaire, written in the days subsequent to his residence at Parson's Green, has for so long "been permitted, as one accustomed to liberty, to go to heaven in his own way," as to be in danger of forgetting that what he terms heresy has quite often been the synonym for progress. The fact is that there is no word in the language more indefinable. The use of it constantly reminds us of what a certain famous poet said of treason,—
Treason doth never prosper: what's the reason?
Why, if it prosper, none dare call it treason.
