I have felt for a long time that I ought to write my thanks...
I have felt for a long time that I ought to write my thanks for the many blessings I have received since coming to Christian Science. About six years ago I borrowed Science and Health from the public library. Here at last I found the book I had been looking for all my life. An acquaintance was at that time being treated by a Christian Science practitioner. She told me that the Scientists healed by their religion, and since I had always believed that the Church ought to heal, I thought perhaps I had found at last the true religion. Before finding the truth of Christian Science I turned entirely to the unknown God, and prayed as I never prayed before. The only childhood prayer I retained was the Lord's Prayer. I could not repeat "lead us not into temptation;" I used the words, "let us not fall into temptation." I knew my prayers were answered, when I read Science and Health by Mary Baker G. Eddy.
I rejoice that not a cent has been spent for medicine either for the children or myself for the last six years. I have been often discouraged, but one day it came to me very clearly that discouragement is ingratitude, and since that time I have not been so despondent. Christian Science is everything to me, it would be impossible for me to enumerate all the blessings it has brought to my home. All the ailments peculiar to children have been healed quickly by Science treatment. A lady who was a doctor saw one of the children eating oranges while her face was swollen with mumps. She said she would not have believed it possible if she had not seen the child eat the acid fruit. Whenever the children are in trouble they ask me to read to them. My little boy, five years old, was healed of measles by reading to him from Science and Health.
