Eclipses
In Christian Science there is an eclipse which is under our control and against which we must protect ourselves: this is the passing of dark, material thought between us and the ever-present light. The Light is ours always, as surely as that the sun was not changed on May 28, 1900, when its shadowed light reached the earth through a cloudless sky. The Chinese believed that at the time of an eclipse, a great dragon swallowed the sun; this surely is suggestive. The great dragon, error, the belief in a power apart from God, is all that ever passes between us and the ever-present Light.—A. J. M.
