Thankful for Christian Science
In the spring of 1899 a lady gave me some Sentinels and a Journal to read. When I glanced over the testimonies and read the "Notes from the Field" it seemed to me impossible to understand how these seeming miraculous cures were performed without material aid. If any one had told me then that in less than ten months' time I should try to contribute to these testimonials by relating demonstrations accomplished just by the understanding gained from studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other books by Mary Baker G. Eddy. I should not have believed him, and yet the purpose of my writing is to give utterance to my thanks for being able, not only to overcome many physical and moral evils in myself and my children, but to help others.
A few weeks ago a man who was suffering from the effects of an accident that had happened to him three days previous asked me for treatment. He worked in the mine and had been thrown out of a rapidly moving ore car. He turned two somersaults before reaching the earth. His body was badly bruised, his nose broken, and inflammation and severe pain had to be overcome. I commenced treatment Friday night, Tuesday morning he went to his usual work free from pain, and in a few days more all manifestations of error had disappeared.
A few days later, his brother-in-law asked for help. He was suffering from apendicitis. Material remedies failed to allay the pain. The first Christian Science treatment gave him relief and enabled him to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. In four days he pronounced himself entirely healed, and his happy appearance showed that the healing was not alone physical.—C. L. Wardner, Idaho.
