"CAPTIVITY CAPTIVE"

O wondrous harmony! Where every thought—That subtle, inner thing we cannot see—A willing captive unto Christ is broughtAnd merged in God's immensity,And thus, through broader use finds wider scopeIn fields of richness, where it roameth free;Borne up and on by one unending hope,—Still to unfold in all eternity!

THE STREET OF GOLD

Led at our daily tasks,Led when our tasks are done.

EVER-PRESENCE

Midst the sorrow and the pain,Midst the murk and midst the rain,Midst the pleasure and the joy,Giving peace without alloy—Thou art with me!
Forth like a rivulet flows love unfeigned From lofty summits of a pure desire,Where snows are softened by a radiant fire,Then dews celestial on the steeps have rainedAnd springs from hidden depths the light have gained:Down from the lonely peak where souls aspireAnd see and hear the hosts' victorious choir,Down with the joy of freedom well attained.

THE LARK

He sang of life and libertyAnd joy he could not speak,He sang down in the valleyAnd he sang up on the peak.

From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

"I SHALL BE SATISFIED"

O glorious day, when I awake to knowMyself, as e'en the Father knoweth me,—His child, in His own image made,Reflecting naught but Spirit's purity.

HUMILITY

I trod the darkened road of sorrow.

THY PEACE

Truth's morning light has dawned for melAll night I labored in the dark,While wild and tempest-tossed the sea,And waves engulfed my fragile bark.

THE ARMOR OF GOD

Long have I battled, Lord,Long in Thy cause have striven,Wounded and faint am I—See where the shafts were driven!

TRUTH, LOVE, AND LIFE

O Truth! Thy potent touch dissolvesThe densest structure wrong may rear,Gives man his birthright—freedom, might,And brings him heaven now and here.

"LAZARUS, COME FORTH"

So spake the Master, standing by the graveOf one bound hand and foot by error's chain.
