AT EVENING

The master artist, with sure hand,His long brush-strokes of rose and grayHas swept across the evening sky;A hush falls on the evening landAs daylight slips awayIn perfect blend of tint and tone;The little vagrant breezes sigh:How soft the shadows are!Above the tree-tops, bright and lone,Out slips one star!

OBEDIENCE

Lord , not for bowered ease we askWho hark to Truth's exalted word,—Place in the ranks, the lowliest task,A niche where we may serve thee, Lord.

Give me, O Lord, the strength that dwellsAs everlasting hills,That stands serene through stress and storm,And human passion stills.

PEACE

Night, with its silence and its solitude,Brings all earth's strife unto the feet of Love:There, in the stillness of the eventide,To lift our thoughts in prayer to God above.

KIND WORDS

Words soft-spoken and kind,Like sunbeams through clouds of day,Into the heart to grief resignedStealthily find their way!

REFLECTIONS

Frail little butterfly,Flitting from bud to flower,Gracing most mightilyEach sunlit hour;

OPPORTUNITY

Who says I knock but once and passNe'er to return, speaks not the truth.

MY VISION

The blinding mists have lifted from the faceOf all mankind, of earth, and troubled sea;Time's sickle reaps no more, and in its placeRevolve the cycles of eternity.

RELIANCE

I know not just the moment whenLove's harvest ripe will be,But as I sow I gather forEternity.
