My fingers, busy with their tasks,Pursue a homely roundOf never-ending, weary work;My lagging feet seem bound.

"Cities of refuge"

Kedesh in Galilee! How sweet the nameTo him who fled along those bygone waysBefore the avenger's hand, nor stayed his pace,Nor slacked his breathless speed until he cameAnd thundered at the gate and told his cause.

The Test

How much are you willing to pay, dear heart,When you name the name of God?

The Way

Shadows and dusk, and fading sunset light,The hour that speaks the passing of the day!And with a fear of failure and of blightI cried, God keep me in the way!

A Prayer

Dear Father-Mother, like a little childI look to Thee, Thou one eternal good.

The Mighty Ones

Oh, pilgrim, when your journeys leadThrough lonely marsh or dreadful height;When dragons, swollen with lust and greed,Obstruct your way; or lurking fearSkulks, out of sight, but ever near,And you must either turn or fight,All suddenly, your timid prayerIs charged with strength; a flaming dartYou hold, and on the pathway thereFirm foothold gain; a holy lightSurrounds your struggle for the right,And victory sings within your heart;

Be Strong

Be strong, dear one.
