Eye on the world: Water and supply
In “Why is nobody talking about Africa's drought?” The Christian Science Monitor reports that “Since late 2015, Southern and Eastern Africa have been hit hard” by drought, and the funds needed for relief aid have not nearly been obtained in full. However, there’s also “... good news: While Africa needs help, it’s now more able to help itself” than it has been in drought situations in the past.
Ideas on this subject:
From the Bible:
With joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
—Isaiah 12:3
Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
—Psalms 65:9
When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
—Isaiah 41:17, 18
From the writings of Mary Baker Eddy:
God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies.
—Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 307
In divine Science, man is sustained by God, the divine Principle of being.
—Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 530
Related articles from The Christian Science Journal and The Christian Science Monitor’s “A Christian Science perspective” column:
In “There is no lack in God”: “It is possible, wherever we live, to understand that life, as the full expression of divine Life, can include no lack…. true resources are eternal and spiritual because they come from God, from His immutable spiritual nature, which cannot be changed, diminished, or modified.” And “By trusting that good flows uninterruptedly to each and every child of God, we are prepared to express more of the fullness of spiritual ideas flowing to us all from divine Mind.”
In “Water: A prayer of enough for all”: “While it is tempting to think that life is determined by dwindling material resources at the whim of environmental or human factors, the teachings of the Bible and of Christian Science show that the source of life is truly found in God, Life itself, who provides for all.” And “One way we experience this divine aid is by listening, in thought, for the intelligent ideas we receive when we pray. This involves quieting fear and turning expectantly to God for answers and direction.”
