Eye on the world: Harmony, not religious division
In “Another model of Christian-Muslim harmony?” The Christian Science Monitor’s Editorial Board remarks on a growing competition, of sorts, among a number of countries striving for harmony among Christians and Muslims, including Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Further, the divided island of Cyprus is discussing reunification. The Monitor concludes: “One of the world’s most frozen conflicts is now thawing. And with so much violence in the region, a reconciled Cyprus has the potential to set a new tone. More countries might begin to compete on which one is a model of coexistence.”
Ideas on this subject:
From the Bible:
God that made the world and all things therein ... hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth.
—Acts 17:24, 26
Hath not one God created us?
—Malachi 2:10
From the writings of Mary Baker Eddy:
With one Father, even God, the whole family of man would be brethren; and with one Mind and that God, or good, the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth, and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which constitute divine Science.

...
Truth infinite,—so far above
All mortal strife,
Or cruel creed, or earth-born taint:
Fill us today
With all thou art—be thou our saint,
Our stay, alway.

In “Spirituality, Religion, and Peace”: “Seeing man as purely spiritual—because he is the expression of Spirit, the only cause—can help bring peace to those with a solely religious commitment, and who may have strong, warlike human convictions.” And “The result of comprehending God’s love and presence is reconciliation, order, and brotherliness.” And “ Scientific religion, as uniquely disclosed in Christian Science, is more than religion—it is the impersonal Science of being. It conveys a complete view of reality, a full way of life and peace…. This is the nature of the spirituality that Christian Science shows us how to cultivate.”
In “What unifies men”: “Only by recognizing that the entire universe is united in the oneness of Mind, God, can we begin to bring the groups that seem at odds into a framework that will lead to healing.” And “ In reality, there is not a multiplicity of warring, separate minds, all striving for finite recognition, resources, protection. Man relates specifically to the one Mind, God, and does not have a separate mind to act contrary to the divine will. All identities are held forever safe in this Mind. They can never be destroyed, or even menaced, whatever the material picture may be.”
