Poem

It’s always God
Diane Warneck
It’s not my strength or resolve.
It never is, it never was
about a small “me”
praying to be victorious
over daily (sometimes nightly) bouts of pain.
No, it is always and only
about You, dear Father,
about Your all-conquering truth
proving pain invalid and impossible
in the unchanging wholeness
of my being, safe in You—
sweeping away stray remnants of fearful doubting
to reveal this quiet conviction
of my oneness with You.
And I am moving
in buoyant freedom, in joy, in peace—
as You have always known me,
as I know myself—
always and only in You.
