Praying for Argentina
Originally published in Spanish
One of our duties as Christian Scientists is to pray for the world, including our communities and our countries. Right now my country, Argentina, is going through difficult times. Many people feel there is a great need for honesty, transparency, and good for all that has yet to be fulfilled.
Christian Science shows us that it is not people, but error—evil or the so-called carnal mind—that is the source of the problems. So, as a Christian Scientist, I make an effort not to accept the appearance of evil personified, but to elevate my thinking with spiritual sense. Instead of seeing people or situations from a material perspective, I try to see them from God’s perspective.
I find it helpful to pray with the definition of God from the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “The great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence” (p. 587).
