Like many people today, I have been concerned about the divisive atmosphere in my country. It’s not uncommon to hear of someone no longer speaking to a friend or family member because of their opposing political views. Many of my friends have different views than mine, and I tend to avoid extended political discussions by saying, “I guess we will have to agree to disagree.”

When, following my interactions with others, I began feeling not just unsettled but even judgmental about their positions, I wanted to gain peace of mind regarding the situation and the issues involved. I sincerely desired to know how I could best serve God and humanity, so I prayed for an answer.

I wanted to regain some peace of mind and sincerely desired to know how I could best serve God and humanity.
