The mutual blessings of God's economy

In January 1991, I went on a business trip to Japan, and before going back to the States I had a clear spiritual intuition that I was to return to Japan and live there with my family. Soon after I arrived in the States, the real estate market crashed and my real estate company went through hard times. There were days I received no phone calls nor had any potential clients.

As weeks went by, I had great mental struggles but tried to pray daily and wait for God’s guidance. With the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, I held on to the spiritual fact that I was employed by God and He was the true source of supply. After all, I reasoned, in God’s economy there is an abundance of ideas and progression, not stagnation.

I read this passage in the book of Matthew: “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” (6:28–30). I knew right then that I had to trust God with my business and finances.
