Erase hurt feelings with Love

Her two front teeth were missing, so it took me a moment to understand what she was saying and why she was crying. At five years old, when a pal says he is no longer your pal, it hurts.
Another friend had led this little girl to me for comfort on the playground. I was substituting for the physical education teacher at an elementary school that afternoon. It came to me to remind the little girl about the mother duck who had built her nest under one of the playground slides.
“You’ve seen the mama duck?”
