Prayer as election day approaches

Caryl Farkas, C.S.B.

From concern about candidates’ security to alarm over one-sided media coverage, site visitors explore these and other issues surrounding the upcoming US Presidential election. Caryl makes the point that elections can seem like a political process made up of personal opinions and personalities. But she points out, “the only way we’re going to be satisfied with the result of this election is through prayer—by remembering to include God, divine Spirit, in our reckoning.”

In addition to responding to questions about how to pray for the election, Caryl offers thoughts about dealing with campaign tactics such as dishonesty and negative advertising, getting along with friends or relatives who have strongly held opinions about the candidates, and how to pray for harmony in the election process.
