In dim, far-off, forgotten ages,Ere Clio yet had found her pen,Some one of earth's most cunning sagesInvented Time to mislead men.

From Church

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

Throughout Eternity

Dear Father-Mother God, within Thine armsOutstretch'd in loving care to me, Thy son,What joy is mine to know that we are one,All one in Love—inseparably oneThroughout eternity.

The Syrian Shepherd

On silent Syrian hills the shepherd watched,Communing in the fragrant star-filled darkWith all-pervading peace, which settled downO'er folded flocks of sheep and little lambs,All trustful in appealing helplessness;Content to feel the shepherd's hov'ring care;Content to rest where'er his presence bides.

God's Messenger

Watching beside a bed of painThrough weary hours of night,The words of truth seemed all in vain,And hopeless, drear, the fight.

Endeavor

Help me, O Love, to find my full salvation;Lead me, O Truth, to walk in purity;Teach me to know Thine is each demonstration,And every perfect thought a glimpse of Thee.

Dreams and Visions

How poor the dreams of mortal senseCompared to visions from on high,Which God's unfailing love presentsTo gladden faith's uplifted eye!

Assurance

God is Love.

Faithful Over Few Things

Is the common daily dutyOfttimes dull, and irksome, too?

The True Life

The only joy that we can feel,Is that of loving, knowing good; The only heaven we can find,Is God, our Father, understood.
