O Love Divine

O Love divine, with humble heart,I pray for grace to know Thy will,So I may learn to do my partAnd love the place I am to fill.

I Shall Not Want

I shall not want—No matter what the seeming lack; With God my source of all supply,Naught is held back.

Paul

We may not ask to plumb the agonyOf those three days of absence from the light;Nor what thoughts thronged, thick, on your misery,Remorse, and fear.

Aspiration

Love, free us from the taint of earth,And from its mortal spell;Help us Thy will to understand,To find Thy blessings near at hand,And seek true wisdom well.

Sun of Righteousness

Oh the pity of our plight,When we trespass 'gainst the right,Blindly follow error's leading,Truth's divine appeal unheeding.

At Evening Time

When burdens seem too great to bear,And endless drag the hours of blight,Then come these words with solace rare:At evening time it shall be light.

Love

I Sang my song to the sunshine,I whispered it in the air,The breezes bore it on loving armsAnd wafted it everywhere!

Unafraid

Unafraid, undismayed,—Great the peace that comes to me;Undismayed, unafraid,As I walk with Thee.

The Reader

I Heard a gentle woman speaking forthStern words of Truth, awed in the utterance,That Truth should be of so great prevalenceTo heal, and she herself so little worth.

"Let there be light"

LET not the argument of human reasonWhisper within thyself: It must be so;This false belief, though only for a season,Is the effect which mortal thoughts bestow.

The Awakening

I prayed to God in tears and sorrow,I feared to-day—I feared to-morrow.
