Poems

Truth Is Simple

A sparrow  on the housetop,A lily in the field,A merchant seeking goodly pearls,A treasure long concealed,Such were the symbols Jesus usedFor those he taught and healed.

Remember

Remember, in the blare of all earth's war and strife,God never reads the fiction of this mortal life.

Peace

Earth's tumult and its storms recede,And in their place are heardThe accents of the "still small voice"—The omnipresent Word.

Son of God

He is not yours—that boy you callYour son;His only parent—God.

The Secret Place

Who can invadeThe secret place of the Most High?

The Ever-present Christ

When Jesus stood with others at his sideWhere Lazarus was laid,And while they sorrowed that his friend had died,Jesus, the Master, prayed,"Father, I thank thee," ever confidentLife's victory is sealed; The truth was proved, the veil of death was rent,Man's heritage revealed.

Fulfillment

In time long past, the chosen prophet toldOf time to come, when Hebrew prayer would moldThe Messianic hope into sweet reality.

"So shall my word be"

Far in the whispering woodland deeply laidAfter the winter bleakness melts in springAnd bitter nights surrender to the day—Faint on the south wind now I hear a noteOf tiny waterfall, born of the snowThat winter heaped within the glen; and now,Released from binding travail by the sun,Leaps down the rocks in shining crystal spray; To eye, a rivulet so frail that rootOr rock might turn it from its certain way;Yet, gathering breadth of grace and depth of might,Resistless, gladsome, singing, it glides on.

Precept

Seek first God's kingdom: fill your thoughtWith all the good that Love has wrought,And He from out His spiritual storeWill on your head a blessing pour.
