GRATITUDE

When I remember how my trust in TheeHas led me through the wilderness of years,Healing all pain and wiping dry my tears,And clearing, through the dark, a space to seeThe heavenly light of Love delivering meFrom all that flesh inherits, all arrearsOf error entertained, till there appearsGod's man in me and all men, blessedly,

FAITHFULNESS

The one who in compassion gaveThe troubled world a healing signDid not disdain the marriage feast,But changed the water into wine.

"THOU GOD SEEST ME"

When Hagar in the wilderness,Weeping, and blinded by her tears,Lacked water for her only son,An angel message calmed her fears:

I SHALL SING

I shall sing psalms as David didOf God's true love and power; And then I shall, as David did,Find refuge in His tower,Where mortal woes and whims are still.

"WHERE HAVE YE LAID HIM?"

Remember the old story, the boy at workIn his father's field of corn, the fiery sun,The sudden cry, "My head," and how he was carried inAnd given into a tearful mother's armsTill, held upon her trembling knees, he died?

"TEACH US TO PRAY"

"Lord , teach us to pray"In gracious, wordless ways—Glad lives expressing every dayAll that our eager lips would sayIn gratitude and praise.
