In his great Sermon on the Mount our Master, Jesus the Christ, clearly contrasts mental light and darkness, concluding his statements on the point with these words: "If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!" Christian Science accepts the Master's teaching, and shows that true education is spiritual enlightenment—conscious, practical realization of the omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence of God, good.

Although none of the articles in your issue of July 18...

Although none of the articles in your issue of July 18 [1935] mentioned Christian Science by name, readers of the Independent-Review probably recognized the implied criticism of this religion when an item, discussing opposition to vaccination, classified as "silly ideas" some of the teachings that are known to be accepted by Christian Scientists.

Prayers Beautifully Answered

Heading a feature on the Woman's Page in a daily newspaper were the words, "What Prayer of Yours Was Beautifully Answered?
"To live so as to keep human consciousness in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal, is to individualize infinite power; and this is Christian Science," Mrs.

Right Thinking Imperative

If a carpenter were to work eight hours on a house, then spend several hours in tearing it down, and repeat that performance daily, unquestionably it would take him a long while to complete the structure.

"Hour of development"

In a passage referring to the time when one finds oneself "solitary, left without sympathy," our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 266 of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," points to the everpresence of divine Love, and says, "When this hour of development comes, even if you cling to a sense of personal joys, spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth.

Giving and Receiving

The world, generally, regards the problem of supply for its daily needs as involving merely a getting process, whereas a little reasoning on the subject from the standpoint of Christian Science shows that the solving of this problem is primarily a giving or expressing process.
