SPIRITUAL VIEWS LEAD TO HEALING

My earliest memories of Christian Science go back to childhood days, when I recall attending Sunday School and my mother always turning to prayer for solutions. Looking back, I have a profound appreciation for what she achieved after raising her four children as a single parent. It was a task accomplished during the Depression. Vivid in my memory are her words, "I don't know what I would have done without Christian Science."

This background gave me a solid footing in the truths of Christian Science. Sometimes the healings I've had have come through an immediate spiritual insight, sometimes through daily persistence and growth in understanding God, or Spirit, to be All. Realizing in prayer the permanence of good and God's love for all has enabled me to see that any opposite evidence—disease and inharmony in all its forms—are misstatements, lies, about the perfection of God's creation.

One significant healing I had was of a throat condition that left me unable to eat or drink. I was a young mother at the time, and a dear friend from church came and took our children to her home to take care of them. Another friend lovingly offered to help care for me. I prayed earnestly.
