Held from above
Rock-a-bye [your child’s name], held from above,
Safe in the arms of infinite Love,
No mortal error can make you fall,
For God is the Father-Mother of all!
I don’t recall where I first heard those words, but they became one of my favorite children’s evening prayers. I sang them to our son, and I now sing them to his baby daughter—our first grandchild, who currently lives abroad with her parents. The deep comfort those words never fail to bring to my thought, is immediate and tangible.
