Healing–en route to class

My daughter was nine years old when I was accepted to take Christian Science Primary class instruction. The class was a two-day drive from where we lived, and on the way, I was planning on dropping off my daughter with a friend for the two weeks. The night before we were to leave, my daughter came down with an alarming rash. At first I panicked, then I called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help. To the practitioner, it was clear what was going on—mortal mind was putting up resistance to the progressive step of class instruction. She assured me that getting on the road in the morning would be half the healing. I understood, so I packed the car, helped my daughter get comfortable, and took off.

We were planning to camp out that night, but I was very worried because my daughter still had the uncomfortable rash. However, as I continued to drive, she began to sing hymns to me. When she sang Hymn No. 148 from the Christian Science Hymnal, I immediately felt peace and confidence, and a deep sense of God’s love and protection.

Wherever He may guide me,
No want shall turn me back;
My Shepherd is beside me,
And nothing can I lack.
His wisdom ever waketh,
His sight is never dim;
He knows the way He taketh,
And I will walk with Him.
