Healing of painful walking difficulty
Several years ago, I struggled with discomfort that, at times, made it painful to walk. Others had observed my symptoms and said this was related to a sciatic nerve condition. I would often ask a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me, and when I did, the pain always lessened. I was grateful that I could go to church and do grocery shopping, though my gait was different than usual.
Because I love to take walks, I continued to do so and found relief as I prayed. For most of each walk, I would be free of pain, but once I was home, it would return. This had been going on for about six weeks, and I finally decided to stop trying to get rid of or change something and just enjoy my spiritual study time.
One day, a phone call came from a long-time friend who had moved out of state. He was coming to my city for the United States Senior Open Golf Championship and invited me to join him and his wife for the last two days of the tournament. Since I enjoy golf and play myself, I immediately accepted, not thinking for a moment about the amount of walking that would be involved. (For this event, attendees walk the course to watch the players as they progress.)
