Wrapped in Love

One morning, when our first child was a little over a year old, there was a morning when he wasn’t feeling well. I embraced him in love, holding, comforting, and soothing him, and I was also praying. Having experienced quick healings myself, I knew my son was safe, but I felt inspired to call a Christian Science practitioner that afternoon for treatment through prayer. The spiritual truths that the practitioner shared were so comforting.

That evening, my husband asked if I would take our son to a pediatrician the next morning if he wasn’t feeling better. I agreed that I would. And friends, who had been with us earlier that week, called and explained that they had a sickness that seemed to be “going around.” I knew our dear friends were sharing this out of love, and I appreciated being alerted to this as something specific to address in my prayers.

Knowing that there is nothing random and that there isn’t some unknown thing lurking about in God’s all-good kingdom, I refused to accept the lie that God’s child—which I knew my son was—could be vulnerable and randomly subjected to something outside of God’s complete control. Also, in listening to the voice of God, Truth, I knew it was a right idea not to get tangled up in fear or hearsay.
