Why what’s essential is never truly lost

Sometimes we have a choice about what we let go of. Cleaning out a closet. Organizing a shed. Downsizing a home. We surface things that no longer have much value to us but might be greatly valued by someone else. Can we pass them along? Or do we continue to hold on to them?

Sometimes, circumstances force us to let go of the things we have. A wildfire. A burglary. A broken relationship. When these immense disruptions come into our lives, we can feel suddenly separated from the things we value.

Through both kinds of experiences, Christian Science invites us to rediscover that what is essential is never truly lost. That begins with shifting how we look at “things.”
