Caffeine addiction healed when I forgave myself
The gas station service industry is a very stressful environment. When I first started, it was surprising how normal and expected addiction was in the field. It was common for the techs to drink heavily after their workday and fill long hours of work with some type of smoking, vaping, or dipping. Having never been tempted by these things, I didn’t think much of it. I became used to this occurring.
A couple of years later, I was informed that I would be working with a supervisor that I’d never gotten along with. I was upset about being placed on a project that would require me to call him multiple times a day, but as a lifelong Christian Scientist, I was accustomed to turning to God when challenges arose. I decided that it was time to pray about my relationship with this supervisor.
I prayed, knowing that God is Love, as the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy teach us, and that, as God’s creation, we all express this infinite Love. And I heard a very clear voice speaking to me. It stated, “Maybe you should have more patience.” For a moment, I was confused, but then I realized how correct this was. I had no patience. It was as though someone had turned on a light in my thought.
