Unreality

I Corinthians 1:20

Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

One of the issues Paul addresses in this epistle is the misunderstanding of the significance of Christ Jesus’ crucifixion by intellectuals, experts in Jewish law, and popular orators—individuals who viewed the crucifixion as the well-deserved penalty for a renegade Jew rather than the necessary step to Jesus’ resurrection. These respected voices of the day, he points out, are made foolish by God. (The Greek verb mōrainō, rendered made foolish, is also the term describing salt that has lost its savor; see Matthew 5:13.)
